Guess what, Guess what!

This weekend is our first wedding anniversary! I cannot believe it's been a year already. Crazy.

I'm so grateful for Chauncey and all he's done for me. He makes me so happy and I haven't regretted for one day marrying him. We are so excited to spend this weekend celebrating one year of happiness, with many more years to come.

Some of our plans include going to the Anniversary Inn (where we spent our mini-moon) getting couples massages, eating out, and going to the Desert Star to see CSI:Provo, we should have lots of fun! I can't wait :)

P.S. sorry it's been so longs since I've written, between work and school I don't have a ton of time. Anyways, I'll try to write more :)

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Awkward:
-While I was visiting Megan yesterday something awful happened, we were about to cross the street when the red hand came up saying we couldn't cross. I jaywalk that street all the time because there's never any traffic. So i told Megan to run across with me. She wouldn't. There was a group of high schoolers with us and I was sick of standing by them. So i ran across the VERY short street to the trax station. I heard some people clapping for me (no idea why) so i turned around to smirk at Megan, when I tripped over a blind mans guiding stick thing... most embarrassing and awkward moment ever.
- Eating breakfast alone at school while watching those awful morning talk shows that they have playing on their tv.
- The awful grinding sound our car made yesterday whenever we braked. Stupid accidents. I'm sure everyone was looking at our poor old car in a pathetic way.

Awesome:
-My belly dancing class. Most fun I've had in a class in a long time.
- My study of disabilities class. We had a really good discussion yesterday, I'll post about it later.
- Seeing my hubby after a long day, he always puts a smile on my face.
-Nighttime prayers.
- Rain. I love rain.

Beauty and the Beast!

So today's friday the 13th. I've always liked this day. It's probably one of my favorite days of the year.  But I didn't come here to talk about friday the 13th. I came here to talk about one of my favorite Disney movies, Beauty and the Beast!

I'm super excited for Beauty and the Beast to be in theaters!  And they are showing a new short for Tangled! That is one of my favorite new Disney movies, so i was super excited about it. If you haven't seen the clip for it here it is:

Cute right? I was worried at first that they were making another Tangled (Disney doesn't exactly do well with sequels, except for Toy Story, but that's Disney-pixar so it's different). But I do like the idea of a short video about the wedding. So yeah, fun stuff!

Anyways, dirty dishes are waiting to be washed so I should go. I just wanted to share my excitement with you. :)

Awkward and Awesome Thursdays

Eek. Awkward Album Cover.

Awkward:
-Being the "new girl" at work.
-Having everyone talk about you behind your back. (at work)
-Catching people talking about you behind your back "Oh...I'm sorry I walked in on your conversation...about me.." Yeah, not fun.
-Being the oldest hostess at Red Robin (maybe this is only awkward to me, but whatever.) Please make me a server soon!
-Trying to make new friends with the people in your classes. Those first few conversations are always weird, unless you instantly click or something.
-Walking into class late. I hate that, I feel like everyone's eyes are watching me as I nervously/quickly find a seat, only to realize there's not one so I end up sitting on the stairs. Then having 5 different guys offer to give up their seat so I can sit there. Either they are being super nice/chivalrous or they just didn't notice my wedding ring.
-(this one isn't awkward, just sad) Hubby was sick last night. Poor hubby. He feels kinda better today, but I still made him take dayquil.

Awesome:
-Seeing Megan today! Yay!
-Being almost done with Training at Red Robin.
-Having the hostess that trained me talk to the manager about how I'm so awesome because I already have all the table numbers memorized. (yay for scoring points with the managers!)
- Hearing some really awesome news from one of my girlfriends from Vegas :)
- My Spanish class. It's super fun.
-Making new friends.
-getting to teach the little sunbeams in church with Chauncey. They're so cute :)
-Financial aid. Greatest thing ever.

Okay, That's it for this week. See you all later.

What's goin' on.

Hey! it's a new week, new school year and that means a lot of changes are going on. I started school full time again this semester. I'm taking spanish, study of disabilities (edu), spanish and belly dancing. I'm excited to have more to do, but it also means i'm going to be extremely busy this semester. I'm still volunteering at the elementary school twice a week. I start work tonight, so I'll probably be working at least 10-15 hours a week. On top of all that I have to find time to do my field experience hours for my new education course. Unfortunately I can't do them at the elementary school that I already volunteer at because it's not a designated facility for disabilities.

Anyways, I'll be pretty busy. But it's better than staying home all day doing nothing. Tonight I start my first night of training at Red Robin. I'm a little nervous for it but i'm excited to be working again and making some money.

So that's it for now, I need to go get ready for work. I hope you guys are all having a magical monday!

Thoughts for Today

Oh hey, so our week is coming to an end. I feel like all these winter break weeks have flown by way to fast, and school will be starting next week. I'm kind of excited because I'll have more to do, but i'm sort of dreading it because I know that means that I won't see Chauncey as much :/ Especially since we both have jobs now. Oh well though, many other happily married couples have done it, I'm sure we can too. It will only make us stronger.

Another thing that has been on my mind: new years resolutions. I've never really been one to make resolutions, but this year I thought I would try it out. For some reason it's been on my mind a lot, especially today. So while looking through the blogs I follow, I was reminded of the 6 B's from Gordon B. Hinckley: Be Grateful, Be Smart, Be Clean, Be True, Be Humble, Be Prayerful. It has been a while since I've thought of these, but I think they are very important to remember in our daily lives. So this year I am going to try to:

Be Grateful
For everything I have, for everything that Heavenly Father gives me, including my trials.

Be Smart
I will study more and try harder in school. I've found that I have become lazy with school, and that needs to change.

Be Clean
I'll avoid anything that would keep me from going to the temple. I'll choose my friends carefully and be more careful about what I watch on tv or listen to on the radio.

Be True
I'll be true to my gospel standards, my own convictions and to myself.

Be Humble
I will be meek, humble and more teachable. Sometimes I find my pride gets in the way of learning something simple or realizing when I've done something wrong.

Be Prayerful
I will trust in the Lord more. I'll turn to Him more, and not only when I am struggling.

I'm sure that if I focus on those six things this year, I will be a better person. I don't know how many of you are into new years resolutions or anything, but it is important to have goals. We are not perfect, but we strive to be. Righteous goals help us become better people, and help us reach our ultimate goal of returning to our Father in Heaven.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you all have a Fantastic Friday :)

Awkward and Awesome Thursdays

This Picture....Awkward and Awesome all bundled into one. (this is Me and my friend Felicia way back in 2009..And yes, we do have drawn on facial hair)
Awkward:
-My dream...I had a dream that Aladdin and the Prince of Saudi Arabia (don't judge, i was unconscious) tried to kidnap me and I had to hide from them. Much more happened but I will spare you the details.
- The way I look when I wake up in the morning. I'm surprised Chauncey even kisses me goodbye before work each morning.
- After a job interview ends and you don't know what to say so you end up tripping over your words. That happened  to me this week. Yup. Good thing I was already hired by that point.
- Haircuts. It was my second time cutting Chauncey's hair and I might have cut it a tad too short. It doesn't look too bad, but it is much shorter than what he and I are used too.

Awesome:
-The fact that I found a job this week! Yay!
- My best friend from college is coming back to UT this week. Oh i cannot wait for the adventures that we will have.
-Getting to spend a little extra time with my hubby before he leaves for work.
-Being 90% done with Chauncey's anniversary gift. Can you guys believe that it's been almost a year since we got married? Pretty crazy.
-School starts next week....and that means I also get to start volunteering for Whitney and her adorable third grade class again! I can't wait :)

Band of Brothers

So I usually don't post twice in one day, but I had another thought and I didn't want to make the last post too long. I'm sure many of you don't know this small fact about me, but I love anything to do with World War II, I don't know why. I loved studying it in my high school history classes and I love learning about it. I'll even watch the History channel shows on it if Chauncey is watching it. So Chauncey thought I would enjoy the HBO series, Band of Brothers. We are on the sixth episode and I love it.

It is such a great show, and usually I avoid movies or shows with a ton of blood and gore because it makes me woozy, but I just can't stay away from this show. It's so hard to keep myself from watching it while Chauncey's at work (we decided to watch it together.) It's such a powerful story with such a strong sense of brotherhood (hence the name of the show). I won't give anything away for those who haven't seen it, but it is the story of Easy Company of the US Army 101st Airborne division and their mission in WWII Europe. Each episode shares a different mission and focuses on different characters. I've read some of the reviews on it, and many veterans who watched it said it was extremely accurate and authentic. I could go on for hours on this show but I don't want to make this post too long or give too much away.

Also, I think anyone who has seen the show will agree with me on the fact that Captain Winters (Damian Lewis) is so handsome. I have officially added him to my mental list of celebrity crushes (don't judge.) In case you haven't seen a photo of him, here you go :) (One of him as Captain Winters, and one of him in real life)

So yeah, if you haven't seen Band of Brothers yet and you enjoy history and a good story, I would definitely recommend this show. It is awesome.

So Happy!

Hey! Right now I'm really excited and happy, i'll just cut to the chase and tell you all why....I got a job!!! Yay! I will be working at Red Robin. It is undecided if i'll start as a server or a hostess, but i'll find out Saturday when I do my orientation. Chauncey and I are so excited, I've been looking for a job but I haven't had a ton of luck and I hated getting turned down. So yeah, I finally have a job, and it feels great.

Also, I tried a new recipe last night. I love trying new recipes and experimenting with cooking. Last night I decided I really wanted breaded chicken. I've never cooked breaded chicken so I looked up some recipes for some tips. I found one recipe online that seemed like it would work. This is the original recipe from http://www.texascooking.com/recipes/chickenfriedchicken.htmtexas cooking:
----
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  •  1 egg
  •  1/2 cup milk
  • 1 to 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • cooking oil or melted Crisco
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  •  1/4 teaspoon white pepper

Beat together the egg and milk and set aside. Mix together the salt, black pepper, paprika and white pepper and sprinkle on both sides of chicken breasts.

Dredge the chicken breasts in the flour, shaking off the excess. Then dip each piece in the egg/milk mixture, then back in the flour. (You're going to get your hands messy here, so take your rings off.) Set chicken pieces aside on a piece of waxed paper.

 ---
I decided to do basically the same thing but I changed the flour mixture, instead of adding the salt, pepper, and paprika I decided to use poultry seasoning (it has a variety of spices in it), cajun seasoning and a hint of barbeque seasoning. It gave the breading the right amount of spice while not being too strong. I followed the rest of the recipe except for the Crisco part. I fried the chicken on a large frying pan with some oil and butter until the chicken was white all the way through. It was delicious, even Chauncey said he wanted to have it again even though he's not a huge fan of breaded things (I didn't know that until we started eating, otherwise I wouldn't have prepared the chicken that way.)

Anyways I should go, but I hope you guys all have a wonderful Wednesday!
