"Thank goodness for good tippers"

This is something I say pretty much every day I work. I always have a few excellent tippers, and a few bad ones. Sometimes I can see why they left me the tip they did, and sometimes I replay the experience in my mind and am baffled that people would even tip so low when I did nothing wrong. Anyways, thank goodness for good tippers.

So on that note, the job is going pretty well. There are still things I can improve on, but for the most part I think I'm doing alright. I also started school this week. It'll be a pretty chill semester, just taking spanish and yoga. Then next semester I'll be busy busy busy with school and work.

Chauncey really enjoys his job so far. Today he got to lead a meeting by himself. He said it was kind of exciting to have that responsibility. Also, he decided to grow his beard out. *Sarcastic voice* yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy *end sarcastic voice*. I guess I don't mind beards, its just the prickliness while kissing that I don't like. Sorry if that was TMI. Anyways, we will see how that works. Last October he grew his beard out for our Halloween costume (see below)

Can you believe how short my hair was then compared to now!? I'm so glad its growing, now its past my shoulder blades.

So yeah, we'll see how that goes. Chauncey's birthday is also coming up! Next tuesday! We are going to Vegas this weekend to celebrate. Party time, yo!

"Hi, my name is Jenni and I'll be your server today."

Well, if you read my last post you know that I am currently training to be a server at Red Robin. I was really nervous at first, but I think i'm doing pretty okay so far. Yesterday was my first actual day training. I mainly followed one of the other servers and ran drinks. I learned how to put orders in the computer and how to do checks. It was kind of nerve racking, but everyone was really helpful (that is one thing I have always loved about our location, everyone helps everyone out and they are willing to do so) which made my first day really easy. It also helped that i have worked there for half a year, so everyone knows and likes me which means they are willing to help me out more and answer my questions.
Today I trained with a different server than yesterday, and I ended up taking a good portion of the tables by myself. We even had a party table of 9 people and I took half by myself while one of the other servers took the other half (we are not allowed to take party tables that are more than 8 people by ourselves, if it's more than 8 there has to be 2 servers on it.) I was really nervous when my trainer told me I would be taking half of it but I'm grateful she had me do that because it helped me get used to the pressure of having multiple tables at once and keeping on top of everything.
Hopefully tomorrow I will do a little better, my trainer said I did really good but I still noticed things that I needed to work on. Friday I gem (which just means that I will take tables all by myself and a manager will be watching me to make sure I do everything right) Then next week I will be able to serve all by myself! I am super excited and so grateful for this new work opportunity. I have been wanting to be a server since I started working there, but I had to wait until I was 21 to do so, so this feels like it has been a long time coming (even though it has really only  been like 7 months.) Anyways, thanks for reading, and if you're ever in the SLC area come visit me at Red Robin!

Currently....

I am studying to be a server. I start training next week and boy am I nervous! So this is what my day looks like :
thank goodness for music.

yep. So next week I'll be training every day except Saturday and Sunday. So don't expect any posts or updates. Not that I post that much anyways. I should change that. Well, back to studying!

Vegas

Oh Hey. So last week we went to Vegas, we were there for 10 days and it was AWESOME. Usually we only get to spend a weekend in vegas, and even then it is split up between both of our families, so we usually feel unsatisfied with our time spent (not because we don't enjoy it, but because we want it to be longer). But this time, we spent a whole 10 days there, we spent time with my family and with chauncey's family. It was great. The main reason we went was because Andrew (Chauncey's brother) came home from his mission (he went to Japan). But it also worked out because during the week we celebrated my Mom's birthday and my father-in-law's birthday.

For the first couple days, we were at my parent's house. We went and saw my uncle perform in his band, the Goodfellas. They are sort of like a tribute band, and they play music from the 50s, 60s and 70s. It was really fun to see them perform. I also got carded for ordering a shirley temple. It was kind of silly but we laughed about it. We spent time with my high school buddy, Jared, who just got home from the same mission as Andrew. Monday night my mom, 2 grandmas, aunts, and great aunt went to bingo and guess what!? I won 500 dollars! It was pretty awesome. So with that money, I bought myself an iphone since my plan with my parents was ending this month. So Chauncey and I got our own plan. We feel like grownups now. The rest of the money is going towards a new car for us.

Tuesday Andrew came home. It was a pretty exciting day. The rest of the week was spent with Chauncey's family. We swam, played games, watched movies that came out in the last two years, and did a lot of other fun things. To say the least, it was a very eventful week. We were sad to leave Vegas and come back to the reality of work and school and bills. It was a nice little summer vacation. We will go back in a month for Chauncey's birthday, and I'm already excited.

Rise

Wow. That is all I can say. Last night I watched one of the best movies I have ever seen. That is not an understatement, I seriously LOVED The Dark Knight Rises. I could not have been more pleased with the ending of such an incredible trilogy. I was on the edge of my seat pretty much the whole time. I won't go into details because I do not want to spoil the movie for others who have not yet seen it. But really, everything about it was amazing. The acting was spectacular, and at many points I felt that I could've been witnessing something from real life instead of just a scene from a movie. I don't even know what else to say. My mind was blown....

Also, I was kind of disappointed at how we were pretty much the only ones who dressed up. We saw about ten other people, but that was it. Oh well, we still looked awesome.

PS. Michael Caine is incredible.

updating.

okay for reals. I have not posted in a while. I'm sorry 'bout that. Anywayssssss, so sunday was my 21st birthday! Woot woot. It was a pretty good day, I got red toms from my hubby, and a lot of birthday money :) And I get "second birthday" this weekend when we go to vegas! Can't wait. Today I finally spent more time with Megan, we went shopping and she bought me birthday lunch at Kneader's (which is delicious). I also bought a lot of cute birthday clothes with my birthday money.

Also, Chauncey got a job! At L3 communications. He starts August 6th, and he will be working the swing shift (4 to midnight). We are so excited, I feel like everything is falling into place, we are very very blessed. Other than that nothing has really changed. We have just been enjoying the summertime of no school...So yeah! I will try to post more often.

So I know I posted already today, but I just wanted to say that I have the best husband in the world. All these weddings have been reminding me of our wedding day, and every moment since then. I truly do have an amazing husband, and I am so grateful for him. Last night around 11, Chauncey looked up at me and said "you look so beautiful right now". This confused me because my hair was piled up on my head in a messy bun, I didn't have any make up on and I was wearing sweats. But I could tell he meant it by the look on his face, these are the moments that make me so happy, the ones I live for. He's so good to me.

Anyways, I just wanted to share that. Thanks for reading!

Sewing Project #4

Oh hey. So today I didn't have work, and I had the urge to sew something. So I was looking online for things to inspire me, when I saw this. I have been having a problem with my sewing desk being organized, so I was so excited to start this project. I didn't follow the tutorial exactly. For example, I used batting to reinforce the pockets and the backing. Mine is also slightly smaller with a different design. At first I was worried it wasn't going to turn out, otherwise I would have taken pictures along the way. But here is the finished product, and I love it!

I used part of a hanger to hang it up, The hanger is white to match the white in the fabric. The fabric was leftover from a friends wedding present.

Anyways, If you love to sew and want to make one, I would suggest heading over to Expect Moore's Blog and check out her tutorial. Like I said, mine is slightly different, but her tutorial helped me out a lot!

Okay, thanks for reading and have a marvelous monday!

weddings, graduations and more weddings.

Oh hey. So we just got back from Vegas, it was a blast. We went because Chauncey's sister, Brittany, graduated from nursing school. One of my good friends, Eeerin, also got married that weekend. So we went to Brittany's pinning ceremony thursday, and to my friends wedding on friday. It was a really busy weekend, but overall it was fun. We love going to Vegas and visiting family, and visiting all my good friends from high school was a big plus, since I usually don't see them. So because I was dumb and didn't use my camera at all, I will use some of my friend, Kelli's photos from the weekend. Thanks for taking such awesome pictures Kelli!

I look kinda tired in this one, but that's okay, it's still cute :)

So yeah, that was a fun night. Now I have 2 good high school friends married, and another one getting married in just 11 days! Crazy... Anyways, love you girls!

So yeah, fun and busy weekend, now back to our normal lives. I hope everyone has a miraculous monday :)

What's goin' on

Oh hey. Wow has it been awhile. I apologize. Between school ending, work and all the other stuff that's been happening I haven't had time for the blog. Anyways, here's what has been happening in our lives :)

-Chauncey graduated! Yay! (for those of you who don't know, he graduated in mechanical engineering from the University of Utah.) He was even on the dean's honor list, which was a nice unexpected surprise :)

See that skirt? I totally made that, i stayed up til 1:30 in the morning the night before finishing it. My first piece of clothing made all by myself :)

-I work A LOT more now that I am out of school. Five days a week. It's good, and hopefully this means they'll make me a server soon.

-Chauncey has been very busy looking for jobs, hopefully he will find one soon. We are looking all over the country, not just in Utah. So i'm kinda excited because if we get a job out of state, it'll mean a new adventure for us, but I'm also worried it will be far away from our families. We are used to seeing them so often, and if we live far away that will definitely change.

So that's kinda it for now. I'm really busy with sewing projects, I can't say what they are yet, i'll post pictures when they are done. :) Anyways, have an awesome monday!

little notes

Dear hubby,
I love our dinosaur picture, we are awesome. I cannot wait for our celebratory date tonight! yay for school being over. I love you <3

Dear school,
So glad you're over. And to my Spanish professor: in the end, you turned out to be okay. But you should still have more respect for your students.

Dear work,
I'm sure i'll be seeing you more now that school is over, and I am actually looking forward to it, especially for not having as many closing shifts :)

Dear family,
I cannot wait to see all of you at Chauncey's graduation, i'm so excited!

Sad Day

Today was my last belly dancing class :( I'm kind of sad, but at i'm so glad I had the experience. It really helped me get out of my shell and feel more comfortable with my body and with dancing in public. My teacher is offering summer classes on the side for way cheap, so I think I'll continue and take those. I also had a performance today, we performed our choreography that we learned in small groups (2-4 people). I was kinda nervous, but i did pretty good i guess because i got 110/100! So yay me :) anyways, that class was so much fun, I can't wait for her summer classes. If anyone is interested in taking them with me, she said it will probably be on thursday nights and its 12 dollars. I'm unsure of the location, but its somewhere in the Salt Lake valley (she said she will email us when she has more details) :) So let me know!

Anyways, that's it for today, I have a ton of homework to do with finals coming up. Yay for this week being the final full week of school (not counting friday, since it's reading day) If you are taking finals, good luck, and if not, i hope you all have a fabulous week. I'll try to post something during the next few days, but i'll probably be busy until finals are over. Have a terrific tuesday!

City Creek and some Star Wars action

Oh hey, so last night Chauncey and I decided to check out City Creek. First we visited Megan at Chick-Fil-A and then we went  and wandered around. i wanted to go to this new store called Cotton On. They have a bunch of cute stuff for reasonable prices.. Then I found this adorable lace dress. It had straps instead of sleeves so I would have to wear a cardigan with it, but I was more than okay with that. So I tried it on. And it was BARELY too short. Then I thought we could look at F21. They have awesome prices, and cute clothes. Anyways, we were there and I found like 5 really really cute dresses. All of them were just barely too short. Except for the last one. It was ADORABLE, seriously, the cutest dress I've seen in so long, but it was a medium and too big on me (I'm usually a small, but I found the dress on a rack by the fitting rooms and thought I would try out the length) So I went to find a small, and I was so excited to find that they had 6 left. So I took one and tried it on.....It was STILL too big. What's up with that? It was as if there was no difference at all between the small and the medium. I was really sad. Anyways, to all the stores that have cute clothes, please make your dresses longer for those of us who can't wear short dresses. It would be much appreciated.

Second part of our date, we went to Star Wars Episode 1 (now mind you, i've never seen star wars, so Chauncey insisted we see it at the dollar theater.) It was in 3-D, i'm not a huge fan of 3-D movies, but I'm okay with seeing one every once in a while. Anyways, we saw it at 9:40. Big mistake, for some reason I was pretty tired last night, so I kept wanting to fall asleep during the movie. The movie wasn't boring...well some parts were, but it was mostly because i was tired. I did like the movie overall, but I wasn't disappointed that I hadn't seen the series before now, if you know what I mean. Anyways, Chauncey said I was getting it from a different angle than most people who saw Star Wars, because the first one was released after the 3rd, 4th, and 5th. (I think that was all of them) So everyone else saw the others before they saw the first one, so they were able to get more jokes that were put in the first one or something (like how the queen's handmaiden was actually the queen in the first one, i didn't know that until Chauncey told me). But yeah, it was okay, but i would be okay with not seeing it again. (No offense to you die hard Star Wars fans out there, it was a good movie, just not for me.)

Don't you just love date nights? I cannot wait for summer time, because there will be way more to do outdoors, but we also won't have school! Yay for the first summer without school while Chauncey and I have been together!! Thanks for reading, and I hope everyone has a superb Sunday :)

Something Awesome

So last night I was working, and something really awesome/random happened. This guy comes up to me and gives me five bucks. First, I'm like uhh....I can't take that. (Also because I was embarrassed that someone was tipping me for hostessing.) Then my manager just nodded, indicating I should take it. So the guy kept holding it out to me so I took it. He said it was for being a good sport or something (he was joking with me A LOT last night, i didn't mind, i thought it was entertaining.) So yeah, my first tip. It was pretty cool/random.

Another thing that happened this week that was awesome, I got a good grade on my spanish test! I usually do pretty bad on the in class tests because I get so nervous, but this time I took my time, I studied WAY harder than I ever have, and I wrote out some notes on the test sheet while they were fresh in my mind. I walked out after feeling as if I failed, but no I PASSED, with a decent grade no less. I was so excited :)

Something else that was awesome, I won another blog giveaway! This time it was at WindyCItyKnits. They make awesome scarfs and other knitted items. I won a skinny scarf, and i could choose the color out of 20 different colors. I was pretty excited :)

I chose the green (11)

So those are just the few awesome things that happened this week. Thanks for reading and have a fantastic friday!

Snake Braid

Oh hey, so I doubt you all know this, but I am OBSESSED with braids. I love love love learning new braiding techniques and doing my hair different (the girls i work with know this because it is rare that I go to work without a cute hairstyle, that usually involves braids.) Anyways, yesterday I learned this cool new braid called the snake braid. It is exactly what it sounds like, a french braid that goes around your head like a snake. So here is what it looks like:

So I'm thinking of doing a tutorial on how to do it, so that will come later on. Its really really easy, once you get the hang of it. It of course works awesome with someone without layers, but I do have layers, and look how amazing it looks! And that is without bobby pins. So next week I'll put a tutorial up. It is a super fun look and the best part is, it doesn't take hours to do!

little notes

dear hubby,
you've been sick a lot lately, it's making me sad :( i hope you start feeling better soon! I love you so much, thanks for being so awesome to me. also, i'm so proud of you for graduating this spring. you are such a great example to me and you constantly push me to be my very best. thank you for that. also, we need to take more pictures.

dear school,
i feel like i'm finally on top of my assignments, and its close to the end of the semester. oh well.

dear megan,
congrats on graduation from the BC this week! i'm so excited for you, and i'm really glad you are staying here for the summer.

dear readers,
thanks for coming and reading my blog. you guys rock. also, i don't know if you've ever heard of swagbucks, but my parents have been trying to get me to use it for forever. i promise, it's not a scam. i did a lot of research on it before i joined. it's just a way to get free stuff (amazon gift cards, itunes gift cards and tons more), by doing what you would normally do on the computer. so if you're interested go to swagbucks and check it out :)

dear springtime,
welcome to Utah! i am so excited to finally have you around, i've missed your warm spring breeze, and the warm rain. Winter was really starting to bog me down.

my lack of posts

oh hey all. sorry i didn't post on awkward and awesome Thursdays. i had some things to say but i was a little preoccupied. as school is coming to an end, I've really had to step it up. anyways, today kinda sucked, i haven't been feeling good. but it was also really awesome because i received my blog giveaway gift in the mail! a few weeks ago i entered a giveaway for INpink at Sydney's blog (go check it out, definitely one of my favorites.) anyways, I picked out these earrings:

aren't they gorgeous? I am going to wear them on Easter Sunday :] I can't wait. Chauncey loves dangly earrings, so I was excited to get these. I'm not a huge fan of yellow gold, but these will look great with so many different outfits, so I didn't mind. Anyways time for me to go, Chauncey will be back with dinner soon, and I still don't feel good. So i'll talk to you guys later :)

i loved seeing you all this weekend, it was so much fun and i cannot wait for Chauncey's graduation so we can see eachother again.

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Awkward:
-When you say goodbye to a customer, knowing they can hear you, and they say nothing. i'm just trying to be friendly. JERK.
Almost cutting my own bangs this week, and then remembering the awful experience i had last time i tried to cut my bangs....yeah...they did not look good. I have no pictures, thank goodness. but it was pretty bad.
-(from anonymous) when your 17 year old co-worker follows you around making cricket noises and daffy duck voices. eek.
-Talking about someone (in a good way) and they walk in on you, thinking you were talking crap about them. so awkward.
- sitting on the bus, listening to the bus driver sing this really weird song (which she apparently only knew the chorus, since that's the only part she sang...over and over again.) for 15 minutes. *in an awful country voice* i may be nervous but i ain't scared of youuuuuuuuuu. (or something like that. wtf.)

Awesome:
-breakfast with Megan today. Yay for best friend time:)
- getting my hair cut today. these bangs are driving me insane!
- road trip with hubby tomorrow to Vegas. I can't wait!
- I finally did awesome in my spanish class, and he did not correct me ONCE. Yes, I am patting myself on the back right now.
-General conference this weekend. I cannot wait to hear the words from our general authorities. they always say what i need to hear.

Friday, March 23, 2012

okay, so last night i saw the hunger games with the hubby at midnight. (do not read this if you have not seen the movie! i don't want to spoil it.)

overall, it was pretty good. but i think my expectations were a little high. i have been pumped about this movie since i found out they were making it. i tried not to watch clips in hope that i wouldn't ruin those special moments (rue dying, the reaping, etc). anyways, i tried not to judge when katniss didn't get the pin from madge (who isn't even in the movie) and i tried to be cool when she looked like a freakin' super model in the woods (when everyone else in district 12 was exactly how i pictured them, dirty, skinny, poor, etc). i thought the casting was freaking fantastic. loved everyone in it. her relationship with her mother was spot on, as well as her relationship with gale and peeta (love him). the unfortunate thing about the movie overall was that they sped through it. i couldn't even have feelings during some parts because they rushed through. they didn't necessarily rush for rue's death, which i appreciated. i thought that part in the book was beautifully tragic, and i was going to be so mad if they messed that up. I also felt that they left a lot out. so much...and at the end i didn't even feel like clapping with everyone else. A lot of these feelings came because we had obnoxious losers sitting in front of us and behind us. for example, when they shot back to gale during those tender moments between katniss and peeta the guy in front of us yelled (ohhh look it's jacob all over again) and i'm like really? really dude? don't even dare compare this story or any of the characters to twilight. (though i know he enjoyed some of the movie, he was totally crying with everyone else when rue died.) and then the guys behind us were making snide comments the whole time. i would never do that in a movie premiere. even if you don't like the movie, just respect of the other fans who paid good money to come and see it. if it's in the dollar theater, or there's not a lot of people around us i'm going to talk to chauncey and make comments on what we do or don't like, but not in a movie premiere. anyways, over all it was good, i definitely want to see it again, and own it, i just wish they didn't rush through everything.

i hope that didn't change anyone's view on the movie, like i said, i liked it. there were just some parts where i felt could have been done better. the book was so good, i just wanted the movie to be equally good. (but we all know how hard it is to turn books into movies.)

awkward and awesome thursdays

awkward:
-the drama that has been going on at work. i swear sometimes people make some really dumb decisions.
- the conversations that go on with some people after they find out that i'm married and only 20. get over it. i'm young and i am married, big deal.
-leggings and pants. i know i say this like all the time. but seriously, they aren't pants and you will look stupid and awkward if you wear them as pants. (see picture above.)
- the moment when you realize its 3 in the afternoon and you're still in sweats and you  haven't really moved from that one spot on the couch. yeah. that's me right now.
-talking to people that clearly do not like you and they act like everything is fine. uh i know you dislike me, so don't be fake around me.
-a little sunbeam at church calling chauncey "papa". okay it was a little cute, actually really cute but kinda awkward at the same time, you know?
-knowing that you will cry during a movie that you haven't even seen yet. (does anyone else feel this way about the hunger games? or am i just a crybaby?)

awesome:
- hunger games!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8 hours!!!
-the soundtrack to the hunger games. so good.
- seeing my parents this week, it was a short but good visit.
-doing some deep cleaning in the kitchen and throwing away things that have been there since i met chauncey. it feels good to have a thoroughly clean kitchen.
- teaching the sunbeams. it is so rewarding to see them learn and grow.
this blog post (really though, the whole blog is great. love it). thank you for saying everything that i've been wanting to see about this dilemma. you rock. (that is also where i got that awesomely awkward picture above.)

dear rude person,
i do not appreciate you telling me the divorce rates in people that get married young. i am aware of them, but i do not need to hear them from you. especially since i hardly know you. get a life.

dear mom, clay and morma,
it was so great seeing you yesterday, even though our visit was short it was fun. i love you guys and can't wait to see you for the family reunion.

dear allergies,
go awayyyy. you make sleeping, cleaning, eating, and everything else so hard because i'm constantly sneezing.

dear spring,
come faster, i need the warm weather!

little notes

dear hubby,
last night was so fun, i loved staying up til 2 talking with you and laughing, and i especially loved our cuddling this morning. i love you <3

dear megan,
you've been in like all my "little notes" posts, we need to see eachother. i miss our talks.

dear hunger games,
i cannot wait to see you next week! AH SO CLOSE!

dear las vegas,
i miss you, i miss being home. i can't wait til the end of this month so we can go home, even if it's only for 2 days.

dear spanish teacher,
you suck.

dear march 29th,
come sooner, my hair really really needs to be trimmed, especially my bangs. oh they are so awful.

Monday, March 12, 2012

Please no.

These are some things that girls (or guys, but that would be a sad, pathetic sight) should just say no to:

-leggings as pants. Leggings are not, nor will they ever be pants. Ever. Even if you have a "nice" body, just say no.
- Mini skirts and leggings. Why did that even become a thing? It's not like wearing leggings will making your outfit more modest.
-Sweats in public. Even if they are "cute" sweats (such as victoria's secret sweats). I would say the only exception would be if you're taking an exercise class or if you're traveling (in a car, not a plane). Maybe if you're like sick and have to go to that one class. But otherwise, please don't make it a habit.
- Uggs. They are awful awful shoes. Just don't.
- Crocs. Never. Please don't.
- Only wearing tank tops and having your bra show....If you don't want to be modest then fine, but at least keep it classy.

Anyways, those are just a few things that bug me, fashion wise. so yeah. If you do any of these things, i apologize. But really. Okay, have a Miraculous Monday!

awkward moments

Because I didn't do awkward and awesome thursdays, here's an awkward moment for you guys... :)

Last night at work a lady came in and told me this, "I know you don't want to hear this at your age, but you look too young to have a job!" So i guess she thought I was like 16...And then she saw my wedding ring. Awkward glances were exchanged and she walked out. So yeah. Awkward moments at work are always fun.

little notes

dear hubby,

La la la....

Hey guys! sorry it's been forever. Chauncey and I were both pretty sick last week, he caught it earlier than i did so he got over it quicker. I unfortunately had the sniffles and congestion all weekend. No fun. Anyways, I'm really bored right now. I finished most of my hw and i'm just waiting for my Belly Dancing class to start. So i thought I would update you on what's going on in our lives :)

As I said, we were sick last week so not much happened. On Saturday I had my first sewing class (when I bought my sewing machine in December, it came with 4 free classes so we could learn how to take care of our machines as well as do a bit of sewing). I've always liked sewing, but I never had a machine of my own and when I did sew I usually had a lot of help, so it felt great to learn all of those things so I could do it by myself. When I got home I practiced some of the things I had learned, and then I found some scraps from a quilt that i made for Chauncey. as I was experimenting with stitching, I decided to make a little tote bag, just for fun. I was so proud of myself. It's really small, but it's so cute. I'll have to post a picture. I don't know what I'll use it for, but I was just proud of making something all by myself. Sewing is so much fun! Then I had an idea about making a jean patchwork tote bag. So I found some old jeans that didn't fit me anymore and I started cutting them up. I have the body done, but I still need to add the handles and the bottom. I plan to line it with a cute paisley  fabric. I can't wait to finish it :) The handles are made of the seams of the jeans. For each handle there are three seams, and I braided them together to strengthen them. Chauncey thought it was pretty clever. So when it is finished i'll post a picture. For now, here is a picture of my sewing machine!

I don't really care for the project runway stuff on it, but it is a great sewing machine and has all the functions and stitches I would ever need, plus more. I can't wait to get started on more projects :)

little notes

Gifts we gave eachother on our 1 year anniversary <3
(I gave him a photo album of our first year dating, and he gave me the top tier to our cake (we didn't save it and I love traditions, so I wanted to eat the top tier on our 1 year anniversary) and a cake topper! (which we never had)it is a blown glass mini Salt Lake Temple. So beautiful :) (sorry for the long explanation and all the parenthesis))

Dear Hubby,
You make me smile. I loved our mini date night tonight, and I'm glad you left work early, also because of the terrible weather.

Dear Utah,
I hate the awful weather you have. Please warm up.

Dear February,
I can't believe you're ending. this semester is going by so fast!

 Dear Spanish Teacher,
You are incredibly vile. Okay, I'm sorry, that was harsh. But really.

Dear Hunger Games,
I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE YOU! Seriously, I even had Hubby read the first book. He actually liked it. So he's kinda excited too.

Dear Etsy,
Stop having cute things. There are so many things I want to buy from you right now.

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Awkward:
-Finding out Jim Parsons (Sheldon on Big Bang Theory) is like 38 years old. wtf!
-having a clear view of some customer's crackage at red robin. Yeah, that was not something i needed to see.
-The looks people give me after i say I've never seen Star Wars. At least people will stop giving me those looks when they ask if i've seen dirty dancing.
- Facebook stalking.
- My teacher when he acts like a fabulous super model...Uhm...no sir, you are not attractive and your hair is thinning. Just sayin'.
- When girls get really excited about hunger games coming out and they haven't even read the books.......SMH.

Awesome:
- Hunger games coming out in 28 days!!!!!!! AH!
- My girls day with Megan yesterday. SO fun.
- Today is thursday, that means the office is on! Yay!
- Not having to work this sunday, thank goodness.

little notes

I'm going to try something new, i've noticed that I have been only posting on thursdays because of Awkward and Awesome, but i need to post more. So maybe I'll make Wednesday "little notes" day (thanks to a few blogs out there who have given me this idea :)

one of my favorite pictures of us, i don't know why.

Dear Hubby,
thank you for all your advice, hugs and kisses to get me through this week. You're amazing.

Dear School,
just...ugh. just let me take a breath. (yay for spring break coming up)

Dear Work,
i feel we are in a love/hate relationship. I want it to be more of a love relationship, so i'll work harder at it if you do. Also, you make me baby happy because of all the families with babies that constantly come into Red Robin. I want a baby :(

 Dear Megan,
i cannot wait to see you today! You're my  best friend and I am so excited for our much needed girls day :) i love you!

Dear Family,
I'm glad we are talking more, I look forward to the family reunion so we can spend time together.

Dear Brother Staples (institute teacher)
You may never read this, but your lessons give me faith that everything will work out. Thank you for your inspirational messages, your classes are sometimes the best parts of my Mondays and Wednesdays, even though I just barely started attending.

Dear Vegas friends,

Dear Self,
Don't get discouraged, there's a lot going on right now but it'll just make you stronger. Keep having faith that things will work out

Happy Anniversary - League of Women Voters

Oh hey. So today is the anniversary of the League of Women Voters. It is also Valentines day, but who cares about that? :)

Chauncey and I decided to not really celebrate Valentines day because we just barely had our anniversary. I know, we are boring. But I did ask him to be my valentine this morning, and I told him that since he said yes to being my valentine, he couldn't be anyone else's valentine. So I'll have to buy him some candy or something.

So this post is just an update of what's going on. I know I've been slacking on blog writing, but I've been extremely busy. I've worked the past five days, and in those five days I've had 3 closing shifts. So by the time I get home I'm pretty tired. But I do have a day off tomorrow, which I will spend catching up on homework and getting ahead. Then I work Thursday night and I have Friday night off (yay for date night!). Anyways, I'm glad I have a job. It's really nice. I'm getting around 22-27 hours a week which is awesome.
Chauncey is doing the same thing as usual, work and school. He stays pretty busy and we don't see each other as much as we used to, but it's all good :)

What else is going on....We still teach the sunbeams at church, and they are the cutest little kids. I love teaching them and learning from them. It is so interesting to hear what they have to say about the lesson. They definitely have funny personalities and opinions. It was really funny last week, we were doing a version of "Once There was a Snowman" But instead it was like "once I was a baby, baby baby, once I was a baby small small small" (You get the idea.) Anyways, this little boy Oscar decided that he didn't  like that version because he was so used to Once there was a Snowman. So he decided he wouldn't do anything and just sat in his chair with a scowl and watched as we did it. It was really funny and kinda cute.

I guess that's it for now. I'll try to be better at writing. Thanks for reading and make sure you celebrate Arizona and Oregon's birthdays :) Oh and Valentines day too, if you want.

Awkward and Awesome Thursdays

Oh hey friends. Sorry for the late blog post, again. Ready for some Awkward and Awesome? Me too. Let's get to it.

Awkward.
- I rode the short bus this week on accident. The bus driver gave me weird looks as I was getting off the bus because he knew I wasn't handicapped. It was kind of awkward. Sorry for not paying attention.
- Being in season 7 of a certain show when I just started watching season 1 a few weeks ago. How do I find the time for that? The episodes are like 45 minutes long.
-While trying to find a picture for this post, I BRIEFLY thought of Photoshopping my face over Emily Blunt's face so it would look like I had a picture with John Krasinski....I know. Major face palm for me.

Awesome
-That feeling that you get when you finish a really important assignment.
-Sleep
-Tonight's episode of The Office. Except for stupid Kathy, what was up with her.
-The transformers shirt I made this week. So freakin' cool. I love fabric paint.
-The movie The Notebook...I thought I would hate it, and I was going to feel so awful for making Chauncey watch it, but It was so cute... Even Chauncey liked it. It just made me even more excited to see The Vow!

Awkward and Awesome Thursdays

(almost awkward and awesome fridays. Yay for late nights and not having anytime to blog :(..)

Awkward:
(Compliments of 9gag :))

-Forgetting to put on a  very important article of clothing before going to work.
- Losing my ability to speak today, i messed up so many words in front of customers, they probably thought I was crazy or something, no guys I just temporarily lost my mind.
-Being hit on by creepy old drunk men as they leave the restaurant. Uhm, thanks...but no.
- Spending most of my time looking at 9gag instead of studying for my spanish test. Like a boss.
- Gleeking. I thought that would be over after getting my braces off. I guess not.

Awesome:
-Getting more hours at work, yay!!
-Tomorrow is friday. YAY.
- Celebrating one year of happiness with my hubby this weekend. :)
- getting to take a bath tomorrow night. I love baths, we don't have a bathtub so i never get to take a bath. I'm so excited.
-Sushi. We are getting sushi tomorrow. Can't wait.
-Not working friday OR saturday. This will be a nice, much needed break.

Guess what, Guess what!

This weekend is our first wedding anniversary! I cannot believe it's been a year already. Crazy.

I'm so grateful for Chauncey and all he's done for me. He makes me so happy and I haven't regretted for one day marrying him. We are so excited to spend this weekend celebrating one year of happiness, with many more years to come.

Some of our plans include going to the Anniversary Inn (where we spent our mini-moon) getting couples massages, eating out, and going to the Desert Star to see CSI:Provo, we should have lots of fun! I can't wait :)

P.S. sorry it's been so longs since I've written, between work and school I don't have a ton of time. Anyways, I'll try to write more :)

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

Awkward:
-While I was visiting Megan yesterday something awful happened, we were about to cross the street when the red hand came up saying we couldn't cross. I jaywalk that street all the time because there's never any traffic. So i told Megan to run across with me. She wouldn't. There was a group of high schoolers with us and I was sick of standing by them. So i ran across the VERY short street to the trax station. I heard some people clapping for me (no idea why) so i turned around to smirk at Megan, when I tripped over a blind mans guiding stick thing... most embarrassing and awkward moment ever.
- Eating breakfast alone at school while watching those awful morning talk shows that they have playing on their tv.
- The awful grinding sound our car made yesterday whenever we braked. Stupid accidents. I'm sure everyone was looking at our poor old car in a pathetic way.

Awesome:
-My belly dancing class. Most fun I've had in a class in a long time.
- My study of disabilities class. We had a really good discussion yesterday, I'll post about it later.
- Seeing my hubby after a long day, he always puts a smile on my face.
-Nighttime prayers.
- Rain. I love rain.

Beauty and the Beast!

So today's friday the 13th. I've always liked this day. It's probably one of my favorite days of the year.  But I didn't come here to talk about friday the 13th. I came here to talk about one of my favorite Disney movies, Beauty and the Beast!

I'm super excited for Beauty and the Beast to be in theaters!  And they are showing a new short for Tangled! That is one of my favorite new Disney movies, so i was super excited about it. If you haven't seen the clip for it here it is:

Cute right? I was worried at first that they were making another Tangled (Disney doesn't exactly do well with sequels, except for Toy Story, but that's Disney-pixar so it's different). But I do like the idea of a short video about the wedding. So yeah, fun stuff!

Anyways, dirty dishes are waiting to be washed so I should go. I just wanted to share my excitement with you. :)

Awkward and Awesome Thursdays

Eek. Awkward Album Cover.

Awkward:
-Being the "new girl" at work.
-Having everyone talk about you behind your back. (at work)
-Catching people talking about you behind your back "Oh...I'm sorry I walked in on your conversation...about me.." Yeah, not fun.
-Being the oldest hostess at Red Robin (maybe this is only awkward to me, but whatever.) Please make me a server soon!
-Trying to make new friends with the people in your classes. Those first few conversations are always weird, unless you instantly click or something.
-Walking into class late. I hate that, I feel like everyone's eyes are watching me as I nervously/quickly find a seat, only to realize there's not one so I end up sitting on the stairs. Then having 5 different guys offer to give up their seat so I can sit there. Either they are being super nice/chivalrous or they just didn't notice my wedding ring.
-(this one isn't awkward, just sad) Hubby was sick last night. Poor hubby. He feels kinda better today, but I still made him take dayquil.

Awesome:
-Seeing Megan today! Yay!
-Being almost done with Training at Red Robin.
-Having the hostess that trained me talk to the manager about how I'm so awesome because I already have all the table numbers memorized. (yay for scoring points with the managers!)
- Hearing some really awesome news from one of my girlfriends from Vegas :)
- My Spanish class. It's super fun.
-Making new friends.
-getting to teach the little sunbeams in church with Chauncey. They're so cute :)
-Financial aid. Greatest thing ever.

Okay, That's it for this week. See you all later.

What's goin' on.

Hey! it's a new week, new school year and that means a lot of changes are going on. I started school full time again this semester. I'm taking spanish, study of disabilities (edu), spanish and belly dancing. I'm excited to have more to do, but it also means i'm going to be extremely busy this semester. I'm still volunteering at the elementary school twice a week. I start work tonight, so I'll probably be working at least 10-15 hours a week. On top of all that I have to find time to do my field experience hours for my new education course. Unfortunately I can't do them at the elementary school that I already volunteer at because it's not a designated facility for disabilities.

Anyways, I'll be pretty busy. But it's better than staying home all day doing nothing. Tonight I start my first night of training at Red Robin. I'm a little nervous for it but i'm excited to be working again and making some money.

So that's it for now, I need to go get ready for work. I hope you guys are all having a magical monday!

Thoughts for Today

Oh hey, so our week is coming to an end. I feel like all these winter break weeks have flown by way to fast, and school will be starting next week. I'm kind of excited because I'll have more to do, but i'm sort of dreading it because I know that means that I won't see Chauncey as much :/ Especially since we both have jobs now. Oh well though, many other happily married couples have done it, I'm sure we can too. It will only make us stronger.

Another thing that has been on my mind: new years resolutions. I've never really been one to make resolutions, but this year I thought I would try it out. For some reason it's been on my mind a lot, especially today. So while looking through the blogs I follow, I was reminded of the 6 B's from Gordon B. Hinckley: Be Grateful, Be Smart, Be Clean, Be True, Be Humble, Be Prayerful. It has been a while since I've thought of these, but I think they are very important to remember in our daily lives. So this year I am going to try to:

Be Grateful
For everything I have, for everything that Heavenly Father gives me, including my trials.

Be Smart
I will study more and try harder in school. I've found that I have become lazy with school, and that needs to change.

Be Clean
I'll avoid anything that would keep me from going to the temple. I'll choose my friends carefully and be more careful about what I watch on tv or listen to on the radio.

Be True
I'll be true to my gospel standards, my own convictions and to myself.

Be Humble
I will be meek, humble and more teachable. Sometimes I find my pride gets in the way of learning something simple or realizing when I've done something wrong.

Be Prayerful
I will trust in the Lord more. I'll turn to Him more, and not only when I am struggling.

I'm sure that if I focus on those six things this year, I will be a better person. I don't know how many of you are into new years resolutions or anything, but it is important to have goals. We are not perfect, but we strive to be. Righteous goals help us become better people, and help us reach our ultimate goal of returning to our Father in Heaven.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you all have a Fantastic Friday :)

Awkward and Awesome Thursdays

This Picture....Awkward and Awesome all bundled into one. (this is Me and my friend Felicia way back in 2009..And yes, we do have drawn on facial hair)
Awkward:
-My dream...I had a dream that Aladdin and the Prince of Saudi Arabia (don't judge, i was unconscious) tried to kidnap me and I had to hide from them. Much more happened but I will spare you the details.
- The way I look when I wake up in the morning. I'm surprised Chauncey even kisses me goodbye before work each morning.
- After a job interview ends and you don't know what to say so you end up tripping over your words. That happened  to me this week. Yup. Good thing I was already hired by that point.
- Haircuts. It was my second time cutting Chauncey's hair and I might have cut it a tad too short. It doesn't look too bad, but it is much shorter than what he and I are used too.

Awesome:
-The fact that I found a job this week! Yay!
- My best friend from college is coming back to UT this week. Oh i cannot wait for the adventures that we will have.
-Getting to spend a little extra time with my hubby before he leaves for work.
-Being 90% done with Chauncey's anniversary gift. Can you guys believe that it's been almost a year since we got married? Pretty crazy.
-School starts next week....and that means I also get to start volunteering for Whitney and her adorable third grade class again! I can't wait :)

Band of Brothers

So I usually don't post twice in one day, but I had another thought and I didn't want to make the last post too long. I'm sure many of you don't know this small fact about me, but I love anything to do with World War II, I don't know why. I loved studying it in my high school history classes and I love learning about it. I'll even watch the History channel shows on it if Chauncey is watching it. So Chauncey thought I would enjoy the HBO series, Band of Brothers. We are on the sixth episode and I love it.

It is such a great show, and usually I avoid movies or shows with a ton of blood and gore because it makes me woozy, but I just can't stay away from this show. It's so hard to keep myself from watching it while Chauncey's at work (we decided to watch it together.) It's such a powerful story with such a strong sense of brotherhood (hence the name of the show). I won't give anything away for those who haven't seen it, but it is the story of Easy Company of the US Army 101st Airborne division and their mission in WWII Europe. Each episode shares a different mission and focuses on different characters. I've read some of the reviews on it, and many veterans who watched it said it was extremely accurate and authentic. I could go on for hours on this show but I don't want to make this post too long or give too much away.

Also, I think anyone who has seen the show will agree with me on the fact that Captain Winters (Damian Lewis) is so handsome. I have officially added him to my mental list of celebrity crushes (don't judge.) In case you haven't seen a photo of him, here you go :) (One of him as Captain Winters, and one of him in real life)

So yeah, if you haven't seen Band of Brothers yet and you enjoy history and a good story, I would definitely recommend this show. It is awesome.

So Happy!

Hey! Right now I'm really excited and happy, i'll just cut to the chase and tell you all why....I got a job!!! Yay! I will be working at Red Robin. It is undecided if i'll start as a server or a hostess, but i'll find out Saturday when I do my orientation. Chauncey and I are so excited, I've been looking for a job but I haven't had a ton of luck and I hated getting turned down. So yeah, I finally have a job, and it feels great.

Also, I tried a new recipe last night. I love trying new recipes and experimenting with cooking. Last night I decided I really wanted breaded chicken. I've never cooked breaded chicken so I looked up some recipes for some tips. I found one recipe online that seemed like it would work. This is the original recipe from http://www.texascooking.com/recipes/chickenfriedchicken.htmtexas cooking:
----
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  •  1 egg
  •  1/2 cup milk
  • 1 to 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • cooking oil or melted Crisco
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  •  1/4 teaspoon white pepper

Beat together the egg and milk and set aside. Mix together the salt, black pepper, paprika and white pepper and sprinkle on both sides of chicken breasts.

Dredge the chicken breasts in the flour, shaking off the excess. Then dip each piece in the egg/milk mixture, then back in the flour. (You're going to get your hands messy here, so take your rings off.) Set chicken pieces aside on a piece of waxed paper.

 ---
I decided to do basically the same thing but I changed the flour mixture, instead of adding the salt, pepper, and paprika I decided to use poultry seasoning (it has a variety of spices in it), cajun seasoning and a hint of barbeque seasoning. It gave the breading the right amount of spice while not being too strong. I followed the rest of the recipe except for the Crisco part. I fried the chicken on a large frying pan with some oil and butter until the chicken was white all the way through. It was delicious, even Chauncey said he wanted to have it again even though he's not a huge fan of breaded things (I didn't know that until we started eating, otherwise I wouldn't have prepared the chicken that way.)

Anyways I should go, but I hope you guys all have a wonderful Wednesday!
