As I said, we were sick last week so not much happened. On Saturday I had my first sewing class (when I bought my sewing machine in December, it came with 4 free classes so we could learn how to take care of our machines as well as do a bit of sewing). I've always liked sewing, but I never had a machine of my own and when I did sew I usually had a lot of help, so it felt great to learn all of those things so I could do it by myself. When I got home I practiced some of the things I had learned, and then I found some scraps from a quilt that i made for Chauncey. as I was experimenting with stitching, I decided to make a little tote bag, just for fun. I was so proud of myself. It's really small, but it's so cute. I'll have to post a picture. I don't know what I'll use it for, but I was just proud of making something all by myself. Sewing is so much fun! Then I had an idea about making a jean patchwork tote bag. So I found some old jeans that didn't fit me anymore and I started cutting them up. I have the body done, but I still need to add the handles and the bottom. I plan to line it with a cute paisley fabric. I can't wait to finish it :) The handles are made of the seams of the jeans. For each handle there are three seams, and I braided them together to strengthen them. Chauncey thought it was pretty clever. So when it is finished i'll post a picture.
